My name is Duane Light. I'm a business and nonprofit consultant and fundraiser, and holistic attorney. I've helped dozens of projects get off to a successful launch. I am now partnering with selected
projects and intentional communities to help them become highly successful. "At the speed of
Light" means that
I work with light-inspired projects that create win/win, green, or
spiritually- focused benefit for people and the Earth, and also means that sometimes funding and success come quickly and gracefully!
WHAT I OFFER I start with a passionate visionary (you!) who is ready to explore the future and create success. You must be ready to work with me to identify the next steps, and then follow through with my support and guidance so you can make your vision real. I work with you as a coach and mentor to develop your project to the point where a business and/or funding plan can be written. Other team members (finance, marketing, website design, etc.) may be brought in or developed as needed.
THE COST AND PROCESS
A first consultation of 15-20 minutes is at no charge, so we can each see if it makes sense to work together.
Once we each decide to move forward, there are a couple of options. One is that you can simply consult with me as needed at the rate of $120/hr. (based on actual minutes for consults, e.g. 15 minutes is $30). For a longer-term relationship where I partner with your project, we begin with an initiation fee of $197. With that we discuss your project in depth and begin initial consulting and coaching with you on next steps to get your plan grounded. I provide advice and guidance, and you do most of the research, groundwork and writing. At the appropriate time I will assist with final editing of a business or funding plan, including all needed technical and legal requirements.
If you are mostly well-grounded, have a team together, a track record and good writing, we may be able to proceed to the funding stage quickly. Some projects take months of development time to do everything correctly and make a good impression on investors or funders. As coaching and mentoring continues monthly (if needed), a continuing fee of $97/month is charged for up to two hours a month. Professional coaching is typically $200 to $400 a month depending on coaching time, so this is a significant discount. If I believe in your project's potential, then I am willing to take most of my payment when funding arrives.
In this scenario of our partnering directly with you and being more involved in development, most of my fee comes from your success. First, I actually become a small partner in your business, often with less than 1% ownership, or if you have a nonprofit then I become a long-term consultant.
When you receive funding, I then receive the fee that you and I have agreed to after the initial evaluation. This can vary from $2,500 for a small project ($20,000 minimum raised), to $10,000 to $20,000 or more for more sophisticated projects or those that require much more work ($100,000 to $5,000,000 raised for this level of fee). My fee will average 5% to 10% of funds that we help you raise.
